Settled by Taldan colonists under the leadership of Baron Sirian First, who would later come to be known as Sirian Aldori, the first of the Aldori swordlords, Rostland is a much different land than Issia.  Though still cold much of the year, the vast stretch of rolling hills and grassland south of Lake Reykal is much more suitable for farming than is the land of Issia.  In addition to being productive farmers, the people of Rostland are also prideful and quick to stand up for their honor.  Many Rostlanders to this day still view the people of Issia, particularly the Surtovas, as cowards for their instant surrender to Choral the Conqueror.
